Office of the Chancellor
Greetings!
Welcome to Montana Technological University. Here you’ll find a dynamic learning environment nestled in a panorama of mountains and built upon a heritage of toughness and resiliency borne from growing up around the “richest hill on Earth.” Located in beautiful Butte, MT, Tech is where determined “doers” get things done. We are innovative, authentic, and committed to developing leaders, benefiting humanity, and meeting the changing needs of society.
We are Montana's only Special Focus Institution, and nationally recognized for STEM programs in engineering, science, technology, and health fields; and a committed partner in our community and state. We are determined to help meet local, regional, national, and international workforce and leadership needs. Our offerings span from certificates, associate degrees, community education, and customized training developed alongside industry partners; to bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees; to graduate certificate programs designed to help professionals retool, advance, or specialize in their chosen career paths.
In addition, we are home to the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology (MBMG), a non-regulatory state agency established in 1919 to collect and publish information on Montana’s geology and to promote orderly and responsible development of the energy, groundwater, and mineral resources of the State.
Together, the Lance College of Mines and Engineering, College of Letters, Sciences, & Professional Studies (CLSPS), Highlands College, Graduate School, and MBMG are well-positioned for the future. We have long been recognized as the best value school in Montana with the highest return on investment for our students. Many of our programs are highly ranked nationally, and we have incredible momentum, with increasing demand for the graduates we produce.
Our environment is unparalleled. We live in a dichotomy of intensive environmental issues and immense natural beauty that provide unique, critically important, and distinct opportunities for education and research, as well as recreation and adventure. Possibilities are endless.
Thank you for visiting our website. I hope you will consider a visit in person.
